Athens, Georgia – A Watkinsville company has been drawn into the desperate battle to limit the spread of a new kind of coronavirus.
The company, Electrostatic Spraying Systems, Inc., manufactures a kind of sprayer that electrically charges fine droplets of a disinfectant solution. The charged droplets are drawn to nearby grounded objects or surfaces, allowing much more efficient use of the disinfectant.
More of it reaches the target surface than with an ordinary sprayer, and the charged spray penetrates into cracks and crannies better, said ESS President Bruce Whiting.
Now, the company has been getting orders for its portable sprayer models for use in airline hubs, hospitals, and other public places.
